I love this thread! I love the completely different styles of Zach Hill and Blake Richardson contrasted like that. Blake looks like effortlessly in control, while Zach is almost taken over by his drum kit, unable to stop himself. I really like Marco Minnemann and that Matt Smith kid (so fast!) But my favorite posted was the Neil Pert on Letterman. Despite the poor quality and the needless audience clapping... I love the way his whole kit would undulate in rhythm, and I loved the electronic drum kit portion. p.s.
p.p.s. I can't figure out how to post a video? Am I a moron?

Nova! very cool drummer bro! i've never heard of Tomas Haake before now... i'll have too look into him and his band more closely...
ToolTroll... dude! terry bozzio was awesome and at his best with zappa in my opinion... i've followed his career, he's done some flaky stuff but is still a great drummer... he did a clinic at a local guitar center and blew everyone away... he's now one of the hosts for the drum channel on Utube... his drumming is nowhere near as intense now as it was when he was with zappa though... great post man! by the way, if you hold your cursor over the blue f icon it'll pop up flash... that's what you want to use to post a embedded video...
my next choice is Hilary Jones... she's played with some of the best in music... some examples are Scott Henderson, Tribal Tech, Martin Parry, Alex Murzyn, Robben Ford, Badi Assad, Eric Marienthal, Garth Webber, Heaven Sent, Hot Vultures, Cecilia Noel, The Wild Clams, The Delphines, Nanci Griffith, Taverner Consort,Vince Mendoza, Tribal Tech, Dave Grusin, Matthew Gardner, Ian Rhodes, Paul Robson, Doc Severinson, Warwick Hill, Jonathan Welch, Francis Saunders, Ian McDonough, Lennox Mackenzie, Keith Glossop, Norman Clarke, Duff Burns, Robert Bourton, Lee Ritenour, Colin Paris, Eric Marienthal, Cassio Duarte, Ray Adams....to name a few
Hilary Jones at the Modern Drummer Festival in 2000...

Yeah, damn. She's good. Tool stuff can be pretty challenging. I've never been able to do it.
The other drummers that are posted in here are all awesome.
And Thomas Haake... Jeeze. The song Bleed easily has to be the hardest double bass pattern that I've ever heard. That beat is nuts. I think I heard in an interview with Thomas Haake that it took him two years to be able to play that double bass pattern up to speed for the duration of the song Bleed.

Yeah! I love seeing all drumming styles together. There are always people arguing which drummer is the best or who's better than who, but really, it's all about what each of these people bring to the table. From those two examples, I don't think Zach Hill could do what Blake Richardson does and I don't think Blake could do what Zach Hill does. They're both great in their own ways and they're the perfect niche for each of their bands.
