Corncob Mycelial Slurry Tek Usage
    #1545496 - 05/13/03 02:43 PM (20 years, 9 months ago)

If my friend does this tek, it is basically going to give him a whole lot of colonized substrate to play with right? He can case it or innoculate other things with it correct? I don't really understand spawning very well, will someone explain?

I've done some research on this tek in the past because it sounded too good to be true. I haven't tried it myself but here's what other people have said.

Yes, it does work, but it is meant to create a lot of spawn, NOT substrate. People who have cased it directly have said that the corncob is too low in nutrients and produces very crappy yields. The idea of the tek is to create SPAWN. Spawn usually mixed with bulk substrates like dung and straw. This spawn will then colonize the straw/dung and use it for food to grow BIG fruits and flushes.

So unless you plan to bulk grow with dung or straw, don't do the corncob tek. Also, if you don't already have some experience growing, I wouldn't suggest this. It's a more advanced tek. Get some experience with cakes first if you haven't already.
