What do I do after first flush?
    #1544820 - 05/13/03 10:44 AM (20 years, 9 months ago)

Greets,
AFOAF's pins were somewhat uneven, so the harvest is being done over a few days.  After all the shrooms are harvested, what does he do to bring about a second flush? Should he patch-case some, allow it to get warmer with no lights (basically encourage mycelia grown again), then initiate pinning again?  I appreciate the help

Oh btw... 503 wet grams :-)  They are AWESOME too!!! I saw "god"

Just wait -- mist/fan as normal at R.T. I would keep light on it as normal, IMO. I would only patch if you pulled chunks out when picking the mycelium and there are visible chunks of mycelium exposed. If the casing is still intact, though, don't do anything.

So fruits just continue to appear after the first flush without any specific change in variables?  basically what I mean, now that i've gotten my first flush nearly done, do I just maintain the same conditions, and other flushes occur, or do I have to do some impetus for re-growth and pinning?

Thanks micro

Yup. Just keep at fruiting temps and watch out for dead mycelium.

What does dead mycelium look like and what do I do with it? I have some mycelium that is starting to turn a bit brownish, is that the dead mycelia? How do I treat it?

Thx

take it out to dinner, with champagne & roses. maybe a movie....

it ain't dead still it stops flushing for good, or gets infected. if you have the space, just keep it happy as you have been doing.

i for one usually repatch all the chunks i pull out from the original flush and just mist/fan untill i see the pins come up again.. If you have a BRF casing you can dunk if you like.. I have done this and got a 4th flush once.. only a couple of gms from that last one.
