can someone help me understand diffusion of oxygen in air?

I found this website, which gives me a formula for figuring it out based on concentration, and a different one which adds temperature but not concentration:
http://compost.css.cornell.edu/oxygen/oxygen.diff.html
Basically i'm contemplating growing a ton of algea in my house because i want more oxygen. My roommate says its pointless because oxygen will just diffuse.
Fuck can anyone help out with this? you don't have to do the math, just if you're familar with this problem, weigh in on ABOUT how fast oxygen diffuses

i don't know anything about that. i do know that if you are able to take full deep breaths it provides your brain with about a 300% oxygen increase, it's good stuff imo

Oxygen diffusion depends on a ton of variables. Air currents, humidity, temperature, concentration of other gasses, how many cats you own, what type of toothpaste you use, etc. Diffusion from algae seems like it would be almost immeasurable.
If you're gonna grow something to provide oxygen, why not go for some other plant that is known to have added benefits? There are plenty of easy to grow, fast growing house plants that do special thangs like eliminate formaldehyde and carcinogens from the air and such... all while providing that oxygen you wanna nom on.

Interesting. Haven't heard of this before, though it makes sense.
Any plants in particular you know of?

yeah i've seen about the plants scrubbing the air.
I'm really just interested in the oxygen though. Algae is supposed to produce pretty serious amounts of it. way more than a houseplant.
This oxygen diffusion question is interesting isn't it? I think we're just gonna have to buy an oxygen meter and find out.

I'll have to look over my notes from classes, but one that comes to mind is the Pothos vine. Very easy to grow. Low light, fast growing, not very demanding, and you can find it at just about any store that sells live plants.
