cooking grains(WBS) at 10 PSI??
    #1542868 - 05/12/03 09:42 PM (15 years, 16 days ago)

Whats up ppl I've got a question thats pretty crucial in getting my friend started. He has a 10 psi PC and was planning on using wbs. Shirley told him to cook at 10 psi for 1 1/2 hours and he'd be fine. But Psychoslut said doing this will result in a messy goo which will be useless or something to that effect. Looking for more input on this, he would like to find out soon.. thanks.

Try it and find out eh. You should be ok, 10psi isnt that much less and 1.5 hrs seems cool.

So long as the jars are sitting on a trivot & not in the water in the bottom of the PC, it should work. You might go 120 minutes, though. 6T

DAMN... see this is just a little 4 quart pc so it will be sitting in the water.. is the reason for this so water wont get in the jars, and if so he was planning on putting external foil tightly over the lid during pc'ing

If the jar bottoms are setting IN WATER in the bottom of the PC. WBS tends to sludge up & clump on the bottom.

Ohh thanks for the tip I never knew that. If he were to use popcorn instead, does it still clump up at the bottom if its setting in water? Hes really trying to get a decent pc but this is just for in the mean time.
