ID Confirm on 'Franciscans please.
    #15413923 - 11/23/11 05:08 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

You guys helped me identify my first psycoactive last year, and I have been on the hunt since two lonely Cyans fruited in my front yard this week.  Found the following in a spot where I suspected some were last year, but by the time I knew what I was doing it had dried out beyond any hope of identification.  Im pretty dam sure these are actives, and suspect them to be Cyanofransiscan.  Just want a TI ID before I gobble em up

Habitat:
Wood chips, Coastal CA

Cap:
.5-1.5" tan-brown when fresh.  Older specimens showed a yellowing due to drying out

Spore print color:
Purple

Bruising:
Intense blue-green bruising developed within five minuites of handling

I would say yes that they are psilocybe cyanofriscosa/cyanofibrillosa. I think that those species are one in the same.

Franciscans wear long brown robes and crucifixes.  I'm pretty sure what you found are mushrooms.

You are spending too much time listening to Paul Stamets.

P. cyanofibrillosa lacks pleurocystidia while P. cyanofriscosa has abundant pleurocystidia.  There are many other macroscopic and microscopic differences.

That is very possible, but until you write a book it is all I have to go off of (you really should write a book, I would buy it). Please give to me the wisdom in your head. :bow2:

Stamets is the man and he is a hack. he is full of himself. he took credit for introducing the species to a specific lecture hall that friscosas can be found around. he said that in the previous year he wore a shirt during a lecture that he had also worn a few days before while hunting cyanofibrillosa in the pnw. he suggested that the spores stuck to his shirt, and made it all the way to the bay area with him and fell off his shirt and started growing in the wood chips. Great story but absolute bullshit. also cyanofibrillosa are said to be weak and friscosas are anything but weak.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
