Fellow shroomers,
Please help oppose a plan to exempt the Pentagon from major environmental laws. The Department of Defense has sent legislation to Capitol Hill proposing that it be exempt from key provisions of laws that protect marine mammals and endangered species. The Pentagon also wants exemptions from clean air and hazardous waste pollution laws. The sweeping exemptions would apply to 30 million acres of military property that serve as habitat for more than 300 endangered or threatened species. You can go to the following link and follow a few simple steps to have a letter sent to your state representative voicing your opposition to this proposition.

Hypocrites! Why should the government be exempt from the same environmental regulations they force on others?

this kinda thing has gone on since the EPA was founded... Emissions equipment was place on autos starting in 1974, nothing has been done to curb emmissions of large trucks and busses, government and military vehicles have never had to undergo smog testing. 3/4 of the Factories arent up to current EPA standards...
Regarding autos A high proformance engine, if kept in good running tune will produce fewer polutants than those on *new* vehicles, My 74 pontiac had a smog pump and a 6 cyl, I built a 350, used custom wiseco piston that ran $700/ set, 6inch Mechart rods, incredibly light assembly, a custom grind cam to maintain vacuum and smooth the idle but keeping a high lift profile....I took it to an emisions test center and the guy laughed because of the year....he tested it and was shocked as hell at how low output for a 450 hp engine was...
why is HiPo equipment innlegal for street vehicles in California, why is no one fighting the EPA on the bullshit they institute as regulations...most of it has no logical basis for reduction in polutants...

It's clearly a case of "Do as we say, not as we do".

Its even more fucked that right now is a time to start changing our ways, to preserve our environment for years to come. Seems like our government doesn't give a fuck, and NOT really being a good model for americans or other countries.
