Oster Dehydrator? Has anyone used this?

I recently got an oster dehydrator and I have been using it to dry the mushrooms. The problem is there is not a temperature gauge and I do not know if the temperatures are safe or not. I was wondering to get some feedback. I'm not a techie and I know there are several ways of cooling down, but I was just wondering if I needed to.

It probably has a vent of some kind in the top. Drop in a meat thermometer. The consensus seems to be that up to 145 is OK. Again, it's probably fine.

That's my brand, and it's never done me wrong. I'd score more trays with it though.

I just bought one of these and threw a meat thermometer in it, reads at 160F.  Is that going to be too hot?

I think dehydrators with any amount of heat lowers the potency of mushrooms.Everyone that I know that uses these always disconnects the heating element in theirs. (Correction- Dehydrators don't cause any loss of potency. Sorry for the misinformation)

I have 2 and love them. The fan is pretty powerful. Don't worry about the temps, I don't know what you guys are reading these days to make you think heat lowers potency, but it's just plain wrong.

I have had LOTS of people say the shrooms dried in these are the best they've ever had, so if they are lowering potency, it's negligible.

Hell, I've made tea and cooked them in a skillet on high heat and not noticed any loss in potency.

Oxygen exposure is much more of a concern than heat, so if you let them fan dry for 2 days you are going to lose more potency than sticking them in a dehydrator for 6-8 hrs.

yea iv ben using one and i havent really noteced a potency drop, however before i got it i air dried them for about a week and that batch seemed alot less potent then the ones dried almost overnight

I recently bought this one. Shrooms dry in about 6-8 hrs on medium-low setting.
