been smoking alot of the pipe lately GG? lol yea i noticed that all of the pics are little red x's its cause he wont use the shroomerys image loading system. oh well peace

- Why yes i have. And my pipe is not filled with yucky tobacco, it is filled with sticky green kind buds.

One thing i haven't been smoking are those icky cigarettes.
-It has been abouit 8 days since i quit so i am bit edgey.  :mad:

Also, it hasn't rained here in about a week so there are no mushrooms to be found anywhere.
-So as usual i am a bit jealous, but i will be o.k.

I'm going hunting for weiliis tomorrow, I'll post some pics to cheer ya up... provided I find something.

And yeah, the red-xs do suck. Forrest Floor kinda screwed things up when they got rid of LK's account.

I always just assumed that everyone knew who LK was because he's been around for so long and posted so much, sorry if I acted like a dick. I tend to forget about the new comers to the hunting forums =X

The forest floor got rid of my account? Doesn't suprise me any, I thought that entire web-site was gone though? And GG is right, I haven't posted much in the past half year, and it is kinda ridiculous to come in here and expect everyone to know what I'm talking about, but I really didn't feel like typing up a description just for the folks who aren't familar with this find. I have typed up many partial descriptions of this species that combined have covered every aspect of this mushroom. I will today however, type up an entire proper description as it is needed, and because enough of ya'll have asked for one.

About my pics and little red x's, its kinda hard to keep a gallery of 600-700 pictures online for 2-3 years running. I don't blame the FF for not wanting to host my giant gallery :smile: What do you all suggest? Do you think I could get the shroomery to give me some gallery space to upload to? Maybe a gallery for each species? I also have lots of poppy, mj, cacti, wildflower, datura pics etc. that I would like to share.

And GG, about me not being a regualr arond here since last hunting season, I never have posted much in the off season, thats just me. When the mushrooms are fruiting, I have a reason to come here and share in the joys of this hobby, when they aren't fruiting, I'm not around here much, I have other hobbies to ya know, like fucking my girl friend all winter long :smile: I keep busy.

I knew exactly what you were talking about LK, and i have no doubt your mushies are a Psilocybe species. Its pretty wild to think the georgia fruits that many active species, you get ps cubies, weilli, atlantis, the unidentified, and some other "unknown" specie? Not to mention the massive fruitings of pan subs you have posted, georgia seems just as magic and the pacific northwest but with a broader season. I gotta make it out east some day.

Its rough, and could probably be revised as I learn more about this species, but here it is...If I forgot something or you have a suggestion just let me know.



Cap: .5-4cm broad. Obtusely conic to conic-convex, sometimes acutely conic, margin incurved at first then planing out, sometimes uplifting with age, broadly umbonate. Margin translucent striated when moist often decorated with fine fibrils. Surface vicid when moist from seperable gelatinous pellicle, reddish orange in color, strongly hygrophanous fading to a pale yellow, often with bluish hues from injury.

Gills: attachment adnexed to sinuate, dark brown to dark purple in color with white edges, gills spaced close to subdistant.

Stem: 30-100mm long, 1-3mm thick. yellowish to whitish when young becoming reddish with age, often translucent yellow near the apex. Slender, usually straight but can be flexose, equal above and slightly enlarged at the base. Covered in fine whitish fibrils turning into more of a fibrillose sheath towards the base. Partial cortinate veil only when very young, quickly disappearing leaving no annular zoneBruising blue where injured or damaged, sometimes appearing dark blue or black because of the dark reddish color of the stem making the color blue unable to show though.


Habitat: Only found so far from one location. Habitat is a combination of riparian and disturbed ground, its a very muddy flood plain that 4x4 vehicles use to drive on, the ground was quite badly disturbed from this action. Soil is sandy/loamy, found growing in tall wild grasses and weeds, not found growing in association with any trees.

Habit: growing solitary or gregarious and sometimes cespitose.

Distibution: Unknown, thought to be widespread across Georgia and possibly other surrounding states in the southeast.



Comments: This mushroom has many shapes and sizes. I have found them small enough to fit on my thumbnail, and some with nearly 2" caps and 4" stems. This mushroom has a tendency to sometimes appear similar macroscopically to a Ps. semilanceata, having actuely conic bell shaped caps with acute umbos. It is also thought be a sclerotia producer but this is still unknown. Potency is moderate to highly potent. When compared to Psilocybe weilii it is generally accepted that this species is slightly more potent than Ps. weilii.

GG its good that you quit smoking ciggs. ive tried and failed. someday i will tho. how long have you been smoking? did you use anything to help you quit like a patch or gum? i think i might try ibogaine. i think it can help break cravings. peace
