SGFC - Morning Humidity Drop

Every morning my SGFC is sitting around the 70% RH mark, and the cakes never look too happy. For the life of me, I can't think of anything else to try. Here are the conditions of my SGFC if anyone would like to critique.
- standard plastic SGFC with 1/4" holes spaced exactly 2" apart on all six sides. - calibrated analog hygrometer, which reads >90% throughout the day. - 5-6 mistings/fannings each day. - 2x 23W 6500k lights (one on each side of the tub, about 3-4" from tub). - SGFC raised 2" off table for air circulation. - 5-6" of well drained, fluffy perlite. - constant room temperature of 72F. - daily running of cool mist humidifier. - did the 'screw-driver' tek to ensure hole clearance from perlite.
What else can I try to keep the RH up over night? Is it normal to see the RH drop that much over night? Do I have to virtually soak the cakes and perlite over night with a super heavy misting?

Have you just tried running the cool mist periodically throughout the night on a timer? If so have you tried running it less overnight?

I haven't tried running the humidifier overnight.. typically I let it run all day and then turn it off, as the fruiting area is my bedroom hehe..
I think the hygrometer is accurate, as it reads 100% in a damp towel, and the state of cakes seems to agree with the RH reading..

Well based on that i say its the fact you stop running the humidifier. Seeing as it stays at >90% all day while it runs. Then while its off the humidity drops. The variable is the humidifier.

I don't believe that it is, as I can maintain the >90% RH throughout the day without the humidifier. I began using the humidifier to try and boost the RH in the house and try and fix the over-night drop, as it is quite dry here in winter.
Perhaps I will try and run the RH over night and see if that helps.. any other suggestions are appreciated!

Well, I sort of made that name up, but it seemed to fit
If you re-moisten the perlite, in a shower for instance, sometimes the perlite gets stuck into SGFC holes, so the air can't circulate to the top of the SGFC.
So you have to take a small screw-driver and poke each of the holes around the sides and the bottom of the SGFC, forcing the perlite in, and this lets the air circulate..

When the temp. Drops at night time, your heater could be drying the house out by running more to stay warm at night. It's just a guess, but it gets cold in my house at night so I know my heater has to be running all night. It's gas heat so it is really dry in my house.

Did I miss it sorry, but if ur getting flushes I wouldn't worry about it. I had a shitty hygrometer and just ended up giving it to my kid to destroy as long as they producing I could care less Wat humidity it is.
Now if yer trying for the perfect grow to max this and that disregard my babble. as long as ur SGFC is drilled to spec. And u have no wild condition changes which sounds like u don't.
And after thought I used boiling water to recharge my SGFC. Just pour round the cakes.

So I ran the humidifier all night, and the morning RH was still 75%
I have gotten one flush so far, but it was pretty shitty. A mixture of small and cracked caps, and no mushroom over ~1.5" in length or so. I've just dunked all the cakes for a 2nd flush, but nothing has grown out yet.
It's pretty damn cold here all day long, so the nat gas furnace is running a constant 72-73F.
@Smily : why did you use boiling water to re-moisten the perlite?
I'll try a super heavy misting tonight..

The boiling water is sterile and the humidity pops after its like a short steam bath.
Ya sounds like u just to dry in some way u seem to mist alot allready.
Wet that perlite more a lot more then see if u get a change.

Two things.
1. Define 'calibration'.
2. Look on the back of the hygrometer and see if you see the word 'China'. If so, search posts here for the car tire calibration method I've previously posted. RR

My analog hygrometer is calibrated weekly via the damp towel method, which I believe you advocate. And I believe your car tire method seems to only apply to digital units
I'd say the hygrometer is broken, but the cakes are definitely not happy come morning time

Maybe try a warmer place in the house? I keep my sgft next to my hot water heater and it keeps a constant 78 degrees.
