I noticed that one in the background of one of your previous photos, but I wasn't sure what I was looking at.

I agree with you that your problem is most likely humidity related, what are you doing with the blocks now? What are your conditions?
Hey sry for the delay in my response busy weekend, last weekend of farmers markets round here too.
Yeah it seems getting a good pinset is the key for kings, and on sawdust it seems a little difficult. Right now im letting them colonize for 3 weeks then just cutting the plastic off the top and placing into the FC. Temps are 50-65F and humidity is around 80-85%. I hand mist multiple times a day to add extra humidity. I cant raise the humidity any higher because shiitake is my main crop now, so any higher humidity will negatively affect them. They are taking 2-3 weeks in the FC, which i would like to get down to 2 weeks if i could. Im only getting 1/2-1lb /block though, id also like to raise that number. Im using strain KO1 from aloha. I just ordered the king oyster strain from ralphs to grow that too. Any tips you got are most appreciated.

No problem, I know how it goes.
Since you can't raise the humidity I would keep the bags intact and close them with clothespins until they pin.
Once they've pinned I like to trim my bags a bit lower than your picture. Just under the sawdust level so any fluid that builds up can drain off and side pins can grow out without touching the plastic.

Ill be trying your suggestions with my next batch this week. Im going to split it into 3 groups: 1 directly to FC, 1 scratch and close bag back up, 1 no scratch and close bag back up. I will cut the plastic lower as u suggested; i see how that will help. Ill keep you posted on my experiment, thanks man.

Before you close the bags back up give the scratched surface a mist with a spray bottle.

Will do. Sry if you already said, but how often do you open the bags and mist the bags that are clothes-pinned? Hopefully ill be starting that experiment today. It is taking 21 days in the FC to get a crop as of right now, and id like to bring it down to 14 days because in a few weeks there will be no extra space in the FC.
Thanks again

I have bags of kings and grey oysters going and this is my first grow .... The bags seem to be colonized so I am supposed to cold shock them to get them to pin then cut or open the bags and put in my gh ? Or do you open the bags then cold shock them then put them in the gh ? Also these bags have thick white myc but on the sides of the bags there are bits of wheat bran on the sides of the bags when people say 100% colonized does every single bit of whatever sub need to covered in myc ? And when I shook and dispersed the spawn in these bags some bran and bits of dust are still stuck on the top parts of the bags in the condensation is this gonna be a prob ? Or since its my first time should I just cut it all off just to be safe ? Any input would be greatly appreciated
