My number one tip for hunting is - go out and look. The best way to learn mushroom hunting is to do it.

Pay attention to habitat. Note what kinds of trees and other plants are around. Be sure you know what your mushrooms are gorwing from.

There are typically 2 mushroom seasons per year in places with a temperate climate. In spring there is an early flush of mushrooms around when the last freeze usually occurs. The other season (the big one) is in late summer when it's just about to become fall. Of course, odd weather can distort the mushroom season and cause odd things to happen.

While it's possible to have too much water, it's unlikely to be a problem unless you're having something like twice the normal rainfall for fairly exended periods. If it's too cold then that will inhibit many kinds of mushrooms from growing. It depends on the mushrooms.

Once again, get out there and look. Keep track of what the date and temps and rainfall have been like and what you find. When conditions are the same in the future you will probably find the same sorts of things in the same habitats.

Good luck and happy mushrooming!

Another tip that is very helpful and might save you loads of time: read, read, read. Read everything about mushroom hunting and identification you can find. Most of the answers to your questions already exist, if only you can find them. Trust me, it's all out there, just have to do some searching

Another tip is to study photos of the
quarrie your after, to imprint it in your mind, as
staring at leaf litter for hours does fuck up your vision a little :-)

Safety first! No mushroom, psychoactive or edible, is
worth bodily injury or imprisonment!

Peace to Everyone,
