1 + 1 = 3?

You're dumb.

It's not a very original concept. The first time I ever was introduced to it was when reading the George Orwell classic 1984 : "2+2=5"

It was just showing that reality is really illusion. What is '1'? Can you define it for me without objectification, without saying one apple, or one hat or some other object. So now that you can't really define 'one', 'two' or 'three' or any number for that matter......philosphically, how is 1+1=3 any more absurd than 1+1=2? Of course, objectively this would seem stupid......

Talking about creativity though. A leap across a chasm not bridgeable by reason.

What do you get when you put two and two together?

Twenty-two.

So then reason does have it's limits.....but where then does creativity come from if not from the cognitive faculty of the individual? - the spirit, or more appropriately, the 'immaterial Self'?

Not if you apply this to nuclear physics and breeder reactors... though in that case I believe it is 2+2=5.

Hehe... that reminds me of when I was in college at an ACM programming contest. Our advisor asked us what hotel room we were in. Without thinking, my friend tells him room 5. The next day he finds meets up with us after breakfast all upset because there is no room 5. We take him back to the room and show him the door, proudly displaying its room number "101".... he never specified a base. (101 binary = 5 decimal)

i remember me and my buddy both tripping on shrooms, i told him that 1+1=3, because i could coompletely understand it and believe it was the answer, the same way he believed it = 2. i told him mathematics did not hold any weight in the reality i was in and i was right. this was the first time i had a distinct feeling of alternate realities that are just as "real" as the one we live in.

I think the implication is basically a "strength in numbers" kind of thing, where the collaborative efforts of a few people may be way more effective than the separate efforts of a few people combined afterwards.

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

1 + 1 = 3

An example of this

A man (1) and his wife (1) have sex. Two months later she finds shes pregnant with twins.

1 + 1 = 3

"An example of this

------------------

Your example is not 1 + 1 = 3....  your example is:

    {SEX}(1 + 1) = [1 + {1+(1+1)}]{TWO MONTHS LATER} = 4
