cased straw

when i case brf and wbs i get shrooms growing all over the caseing but i'v started useing straw and i only get a few shrooms growing granted there big but still there are only a few, should i use a bigger caseing layer i normaly just cover the myc and then patch once

I think straw does better without casing. Lots of folks case it, but in my opinion it's better left uncased.

Sounds like your pinset is messed up. You probably either need to add more casing (it needs to be thicker if there is deeper substrate) or case it more evenly. I usually pick all of the loose pieces of straw off and press the rest down a bit so it's flat and then case.

That or the way you covered it is not allowing enough air exchange.

Yep this is sure old. Question. What is the tek to that method? Is that in a fruiting chamber? Or is it as the picture looks, just to sit in a container?

Hey, RR. I like the way that looks. Was that just as simple as incubate in large container, empty out, and fruit as is? I think I may try that :laugh:
