Life in Jail
    #1534975 - 05/09/03 02:45 PM (20 years, 10 months ago)

Well I have an interesting question for you all.

What would you do with yourself if you got sentenced to life in jail??

There are obviously a few different paths you could take: freak out and try to kill everybody that looks at you wrong (most likely leading to your death), go completely peaceful and try to make ammends for your crime etc.

Personally, I think I would read a lot of books, work out and meditate all day long. With nothing to really worry about (money, women, food) I would be able clear my mind pretty good (provided I didn't do something that terrible to get there, and I had a cell to myself). How would you guys handle this?

Avoid it all costs. Leave the country. Failing that, probably kill myself.

I think self betterment would be good. There's not much you can't do in jail these days that you can't do in real life. I'd open up an internet business and send the proceeds to my family.

There is a story about a Zen monk that would do a petty crime to get thrown in jail. He would meditate while there, and was a perfect gentleman. As soon as his time was up he would do another petty crime to get tossed back in. A few of the other prisoners started to follow his example and meditate with him. A few of them went on to become monks when they got out.

Interesting thread.
I've often wondered if I had an opportunity to live a life of pure
meditation, reading, exercizing etc. How many doors in the mind I can open.
Although I think I'd be worried about dropping the soap or something.

Anal rape doesn't happen much in prison if you keep your nose clean and don't make any friends or enemies.  My friends father does mission work at prisions, and I go there so I can see what they are like, and their religious beliefs.  so I get to talk to alot of prisoners.

as for what would I do? either learn to hablo the espanol and live in south america (mexico isn't far enough away at all), or move to 'dam if it was something they wouldn't extridite me for .  Failing that, i'd go to prison and work out, meditiate, and try to escape, then go to south america or 'dam.  Remember, Leary escaped prison, you can too

work out and meditate all day long.

That's what I would do.

Lots of excercise and lots of reading.

I would write inspiring books about how great crime and prison life is. I would criticize the government and try to pollute the minds of fragile teens. My work would be kind of a bible of how not to live your life right. I would romanticize crime and violence.

I'd write a couple of screenplays... and eventually get around to writing a book on heteroabsolutism... then I'd raise an army of rats that will do my bidding! muhahahahha

Is anyone here sure they wouldn't go on an ass-raping spree?

I've actually had bad trips thinking about this very subject. What if you are a good person and you live a clean life, but a series of events occured that lead up to an event such as accidently killing someone. I mean the death is 100% accidental but you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and all fingers were pointed at you. Or prehaps going too far in trying to cover a petty crime and eventually you find yourself ear deep in other peoples blood. Stuff like that happens all the time.

I don't know what I would do if I knew I was facing life in prision. I think if I deserved to go to prison for life that I was fess up and do the time. But in a case where I thought life in prision was totally out of the question I would flee the country.
