It's pretty easy to keep everything in check if you just do short but intense 3 weeker cycles, not really much at all to worry about there.

Honestly, I am quite lucky genetically, and I don't want to be much bigger than what I can reach naturally.

I've been supplementing huge amounts of protein powder with my diet. I average around 240 grams of protein a day now. I definitely see it making a difference. It also allows me to follow a much stricter diet. I have actually lost 5 pounds while gaining strength. I'm down to 185 now, and my front and lateral dumbbell raises are up to 35# for 4 sets 6 reps. I have also been trying to slow down my lifts and really isolate the fuck out of my muscles. I love getting the massive pump it brings.

I'm actually shocked at the weight I've lost in the last 10 days. I'm a pretty muscular guy but in the last 10 days I've ran 60 miles and biked 120 and I've actually lost 10 pounds I just don't know from where. Ah well back to cardiopalooza.

Thats nice man.

I have been out for nearly 3 weeks on rest. I wanted to give my bicep tendon a little more rest just to ensure proper healing.

I am about to charge back into it next week and I plan on uping my protein a lot.

How many of you guys swim for cardio, or ever have on a regular basis? I'm thinking of adding it in as just a little extra every week. Nothing too crazy.

My routine now is usually running 4-5 days and lifting 3-4 days a week. Nothing too structured though.

I think I am I'm the best shape of my life right now. Even better than when I ran track and played football in high school.

I was a scholarship swimmer in highschool at an all boys boarding school. My senior year I swam the 100 yard breast stroke in 1:02.

I was swimming a couple months ago with my workouts but I dont pay for a YMCA pass anymore so I stopped. I had a nice little thing going.. I would do all my sets and drills then at the end I would mix it up. I would do 50 yards, get out and do 10 pushups, do 50 yards, 10 pushups, repeat... It was a great workout!!

I also did a lot of treading water. Treading water is extremely easy for me and I could do it for hours. But treading water using a dolphin kick only with your hands above your head is the challenge. Talk about glute, hip flexor, oblique, and ab workout!! Hell by the end when I was tired I was even using my entire body and getting my torso involved. I ended up doing 3 sets of 1 min dolphin kicks. It was hard and alot of the times my head was really close to going under. I remember the life guard watching me like a hawk.

I went swimming at my gym for the first time yesterday, and I was doing those dolphin kick things. I kept my hands locked and placed them down by my ass though. I'd go down one side doing that, and go back just doing a back stoke to rest.

I did that about 6-8 times. When I got out of the water I almost fell down my legs were so tired, and I wasn't expecting it. It was awesome.

My workouts are getting a bit too routine/boring so I'm trying to mix it up a bit.

Ugh I wish I could swim, I tried a year ago or so, and just couldn't do laps. Either the water was cold and caused my lungs to tighten or trying to swim with my head underwater and breathing in strokes screwed me up, either way, all I do at pools is play lol. Gonna go to the gym in a couple hours, I have to get 315x3x5 squat, 275x3x5 bench, and 350x1x5 DL if I am gonna get back on track for my 500# goals. Fuck I hate these inj my muscle literally swells to where I can feel where it starts and where it ends. Fuckin shitty ass me and my dumb body not wanting me to put shit in it.

I was running alot the summer before last, working up to 2x20km/week+.

I like distance and trail running, i find it fairly challenging and easy and get an awesome runners high. Although i haven't got out much over the summer, i'll probably try and get back into it semi-seriously in the spring.

I would love to start swimming, and really should head to the pool ASAP, although i don't really have any trunks.

I haven't done any lifting for about a month. Regular push ups for now - i'll get back to the DL's and presses soon though, probably try and put on 5-10lbs over the winter.

I hear ya. At one point it was becoming dangerous for me. I started to do deadlifts or squats before swimming and then I would proceed to tread with dolphin kicks. My legs would cramp up and it sometimes got scary. Good thing for life guards and the shallow parts!!!

I find swimming makes me tired like no other exercise. I just have to go to sleep after a hard session of swimming. I think it is a combination of full body muscle exhaustion, cardio, and the water irritating your eyes.
