well, im waiting for shroomism to report how its doing..he did a hole buncha jars using sweet and low..not sure how much per jar HE used though..WHERE ARE YOU SHROOMISM???

Yeah, I used sweet and low in 6 jars. I just mixed 6 packs of sweet and low into the substrate. I packed and sterilized and innoculated. Three days later HEAVY mycelium growth (but also signs of contam) A few days after that the jars are 90% colonized, but the contamination is in all 6 jars. Oh well, I will try again.

Oh another thing to note...the jars that got contaminated had aluminum foil over the top. I believe this held in heat and moisture better.

How did you sterlize? I hope it wasnt the sweet and low that made them contaminate. I cased one cake and its got well over 40 pins right now. (small casing). And a half-cake thats got about 30 pins on it. OH yeah, if you do try it again, try putting in only 1 packet per 2 jars and see how it goes. If your other "non-sweet+low" jars arent contaminated, then maybe it poses more of a threat than a prospect. Keep us informed!
