Optimal conditions for Growing Kits?

Hello there. I have recently bought two 1200cc.The vendor claims that the strains are Mckennaii, and Cambo. I am really sceptical about the first one,my guess is that it is just a selected cube strain, whatever.
For anyone who would like to flame me for being lazy for buying growkits,I would like to mention that I am going to start my own easy, begginer pf-tek with prints from those kits.Guess I want to see with my own eyes if I can do better.
Anyhow,I also bought a heating pad, that works pretty well, keeping the temperature of the kits at 22-23 degrees.
Currently I am misting and fanning 1 time a day. My question is,should I keep doing this,or should I let the kit do it`s job.Am I risking to contam it by opening the growbag everyday? It comes with a air filtrer, that lets gas exchange.
If misting/fanning is the way to go,what schedule do you reccomand.
Thank you and please don`t flame.

I hope your not misting and fanning while its colonizing. If so, might as well start over.

No,the growkit comes with a pre-colonised substratum. That`s why I bought it in the first place,I have a important event in two weeks and I want to make someone a great surprise.

Misting and fanning are used to initiate pinning. The evaporation of droplets from the surface along with the fresh air exchange are the triggers.
As for the heating pad, not a good idea. Incubation helps bacteria thrive as well as mycelium. At colder temps the mycelium grows a bit slower but is able to outgrow bacteria.

Yeah also most heating pads can be a fire hazard, it would really suck to have the fire department show up and find a growing operation. I personally have never been a fan of grow kits, they seem expensive and usually contain outdated information. If I were you I would read a lot and check out RR's http://mushroomvideos.com/.
Also you shouldn't be opening a grow bag until you are ready to use it and it is fully colonized, you are really going to get yourself up for failure.

Hi, I read your thread about growkits. How did they turn out? I have 3 growkits coming (free) soon and would like to ask if you think I should use a heat pad. My place is very cold, nowhere is above 15C on a warm day. Thanks if you can help. If you can't help, can you just say you don't know. I have asked lots of people on this site and no one ever answers.
