Trance While Tripping - (THE BEST)

I find whenever I trip LSD or Shrooms, trance music is by far the best. By far. I can remember clearly once when me and my friend in college took two tabs of the best acid you can buy, (blue paper blotters in Vermont) I was tripping BALLS, I put on Global Trancemissions cd #2 and I swear the music itself was keeping me alive. That's what it felt like. My friend Dana said, "This music is my heartbeat - if it stopped, I would die." And that made so much sense.

You guys need to download some of that cd and listen to it your next trip - download these songs:

Rising Star - Clear Blue Moon

search for Global Trancemissions #2 and get the complete setlist (12 songs)... it will blow you away. But you need a good system, with good bass.

In my opinion, the best tripping experience to have inside is in a room with plenty of trippy tapestries, and have this music playing. Just play the first song and let the whole setlist play, it will be your heartbeat.

I used to love trance and "dance" music when I was going out to clubs every other weeknnd. But I guess hearing the same monotonous beats and the same type of cheesy vocals and lyrics over and over again got to me. Now I can't stand trance. It really has no soul. When I listen to it now, since I'm not all fucked up on every other drug the club community has to offer, I really listen to it and all I hear is just a bunch of dumb electronic machine-made sounds, beats and loops thrown together. That and it's pretty much impossible for me to dance to. Too repetitive.

The only electronic music I like now is ambient and trip hop. Just my preferance now.

Psy is the best.... last time i was SEEING the music when i listened while tripping.. absolutely amazing...
Try some Infected Mushroom, Shpongle, Astral Projection, 1200 mics, Spacetribe.. they are all great.

I have Behind the Sun. Don't listen to it though. Doesn't do anything for me anymore. I'm more of a hippie type now than a raver type, not that you have to be a raver to like trance, just that I was when I did.

the mp3s suck in comparison - you probably hear that about a lot of music but there is a huge difference between Shpongle on mp3 and Shpongle in CD-quality.. so once again, if you download and aren't impressed, you're perfectly normal

Some of these trance artists are way more popular than they even know because nobody actually BUYS their albums, but everybody pirates their shit and LOVES them anyway - a few psytrance labels have completely shut down due to the assumption that there were no fans due to lack of purchases, and now that those labels are gone a bunch of people are pissed at them for not putting out more stuff rofl...

Ironically, if I walked into a music store and shoplifted an Infected Mushroom CD, it would be good for the band, just bad for the store. Know why? Cuz then the store will just order more of their stuff... hahahah so you're supporting them anyway.

And about downloading music... Strumpling, come off it man, it isn't THAT big of a deal. There's still enough people buying CD's... but in time, that will probably change.

If a band, however hip, underground or whatever, puts out a cd, they deserve to be paid for it if people want the music.

Try union Jack, thier about as good as trance gets. They only released one album and its long out of print but you should be able to download some tracks. Look for water drums, cactus, two full moons and a trout, lollipop man, and red hearing. oh and dont forget cockroach you'll need that one too.

I've been going to raves since before they announced where they were having raves, and the only two "types" of techno I can distingush rae drim and bass, and happy hardcord. The rest all just sounds either "good" or "bad"

I beg to differ on the cheesy ferry corsten and global trancemissions stuff. Not good IMO. Way too synth based and simple.

The best psytrance there is....

Blue Planet Corporation
or any other psytrance on Flying Rhino Records. BPC makes the craziest uptempo trance ever. Check out... Digital Forward, Human Genome Project, and Entropie.

As far as really good electronic music goes tho. I'd recommend some of the progressive house coming out of israel. Anything by MoShic is great. Some tracks to consider are Nanok, 10@ze, and Indian Moon.

Downtempo stuff like Boards of Canada is always a must and if you're seriously demented like I am, try some Squarepusher or Autechre. Tundra by Squarepusher made me feel as if the world was melting and breaking down and it nearly gave me a bad trip. But it was definitely an interesting experience. Autechre... well you'll just have to listen for yourself.

Shpongle is not unspecified. They're psychedelic ambient.

The best Talamasca track in the world is "Sinai."

And you all NEED to listen to Chi-AD. Andy and Dave are, in my opinion, the best Goa producers out there. I love IM as much as the next Goa head, but for me Chi-AD surpasses them in the ability to sustain deep trance spaces.

Well while you're rolling around on the floor laughing, you might want to study up on psychedelic ambient and realize it doesn't hold to the same genre confines as other styles of ambient.

Just because Simon and Raja don't confine their music by genre-specific boundaries doesn't mean their music isn't classified as psychedelic ambient. Granted, Tales of the Inexpressible was much more world-infused and upbeat than Are You Shpongled but both albums are still psychedelic ambient. Laugh all you want.

Is there some type of federal database where I could read the prereqs for "Psychedelic Ambient" style music?

A lot of Shpongle is certainly Psychill/Psyambient stuff, but plenty of it isn't at all - I think that's part of the idea with Shpongle; to show how electronic psychedelia can infect numerous genres.

You consider this Psychedelic Ambient? Sounds more like Psytrance at that point to me...

The second album, as I previously said, is definitely world-infused upbeat music.  I actually like it a little better than Are You Shpongled.  I realize what you're saying, but my point is that they do get clarified as psychedelic ambient/chill when marketing the albums.  I agree that Shpongle is in a class of its own...simply because of how well they fuse different elements together.
But seeing how most DJ's who spin downtempo and ambient tend to spin Shpongle out the most than in other styles, it's marketed as such.  :smile:

I like Goa but my favorite has got to be DJ Tiesto, I was tripping hard once and put my hand on my stereo to fast forward one of his tracks and everytime a beat pulsed i felt like my body was harmoniously waving, like a ripple started in my fingers and flowed down to my feet. Incredible

There are other great psychedelic artists out there that are at the same level of intensity as Shpongle. Check out Negativland's "Escape from Noise" album...it's brilliant...and perfect for tripping.

yesterday my friends were listening to this dude named Aprodite (sp?)......they were all shrooming and i was just high but the music was crazy...everyone was swimming around the room in the music...we kept wanting to go outside but we didnt want to leave the music
