I like them in stews. They come off so easily you can just hold the block over the pot and brush them right in.

I didn't measure when making these but I'd say its probably at least a pound per bag.

Those bags look like about 1 pound total. Remember, you don't count the weight of the water when figuring BE.
My six to seven pound substrate bags weigh about 1 pound before adding five to six pounds of water.
Nice grow. I've begun growing Aa commercially, currently testing ten new strains to find what works best in my conditions. RR

I tried as I love the taste, but the low yields (+ consequently high price to customers) and high fly attraction put me off. I found H Tess have a similar flavour, huge yields and dont pull flies until 2nd flush.

Why low yields? You should be able to get 100% BE with a bit of fine tuning. In my experience, Aa does better with a thin casing layer. RR

A bit more than shiitake, but not much. I'm running tests on numerous strains, doing dozens of various substrate mixes with each one, to find which strains do best on which substrates with what amount of supplementation. I'll put the results up when finished later next year. RR

thanks RR i will be watching for your info. i have some Aa on wheat berries right now will be putting them on substrate soon. i will just follow your complex substrate ratio(4cups bran to 100lb of sawdust).

That will work fine. Toss in some shredded bark too, and if you have sawdust from more than one tree species, it will work better as well. Don't forget the gypsum. RR

i for got to say the complete ratio 100lb sawdust,2cup gypsum,4cup bran of the 100lb of sawdust 60%sawdust,20%bark shredded, 20%straw. this is the ratio that i was planning to use but on a much smaller ratio.

Thanks RR.
Hmm, yea I'm not sure how to calculate it then... The coir and the coffee grounds are both wet before I load up the bags so idk my supplementation ratio.
I'm looking forward to doing similar tests as soon as I move into a house in January. I love compiling all the grow data and finding the best performers and the best substrate combos. I will definitely be digging through your info when you post it.
