This whole situation sounds like a win win to me. Dead drug cartel peeps or dead hackers = less trouble makers. Now i can watch matlock in peace.

Anonymous as a group does not hack normal individuals personal data nor do they create viruses. I really don't think anon creates much trouble for the average Joe.

How would you know? Isn't the whole point of the group the fact that they are anonymous? For all you know they could be made up of NAMBLA enthusiasts.

How does anonymous even know that a faceless node in the hive has been misplaced or taken? The whole premise of threatening the zetas to get back a hacker is idiotic. They could easily torture the kidnap victim and find other members and those member's families and find more and more, essentially exposing big chunks of the group. They recently Gutted a female for posting negative things about the zetas. Even strung her up on a busy overpass in broad daylight.
Not a smart move to piss them off i would say.

In the way it works - the more the hivemind supports it the more powerful the attack will be... if most people think like you - that the whole premise is idiotic - than it will not gain steam and will falter. No one is forced, or ordered to do anything, action is dictated at the individual level and the choice is simply presented by means of information.

No anon members know other anons in real life, unless they go to junior high together.
If you let people control you with fear then life's meaningless, its sick fucks like these cartels that need to be stood up too, yes people will die for standing up but people already die for doing nearly nothing! Anonymous is not the good guy nor the bad guy but they are standing up and that's more than most can say.
