The Colonized Cakes just sittin around

How long can fully colonized cakes sit in an incubator at 80-83 degrees? Is there a higher risk of contamination after a certain point? Is it bad to leave them hanging or neutral?

Is the ph of casing soil a super big deal? My friend cooked up some 50/50 but he's having second thoughts on whether or not he should add the 50/50+ ingredients and re-sterilize.

how does he control perlite humidity?

Well, About the PH...my galpal through some almost boiling water on some peatmoss, let it cool, drained, and through it on some left over colonized grain, its colonizing great without any PH buffer, altho im sure it would be better with a proper PH.

If you not going to birth thme right away after they are fully colonized...stick them in the frig...they will last longer in the frig than keeping them in the incubator.

Yes it is a big deal.

Depends on if you are using casings or cakes.
Depends on what kind of fruiting chamber you are using too.

good luck!

You can use light on the cakes, but it has to be red or green spectrum. A friend has red lights in his grow room, so that he can check the hum. and temp. during lights off time. To control hum. can be some what tough. If you just stick wet perlite in a rubber container and put the lid on, then the hum. is going to be at 99-100 percent. This is fine to start out with, but once pinning starts you will need to lower the hum. and my friend found that keeping a fan running at all times keeps the hum. in the 90-93 range.
