Were to Begin with OBE's and Lucid Dreaming

Well i have been trying both Astral Projection and Lucid Dreaming but have had no real success. I have been trying Lucid Dreaming for a while and only experienced dream control once but woke up soon after. I have also been studying OBE's but have never experienced anything close. Any tips and or Advice would be appreciated and your experiences are also welcome!

dream logs help, when you have a dream try to extract everything that happened and make note of it dunno bout astral projection though

As far as dreams go, I think that just thinking about them alot will help you. If you can train yourself to be more aware of dreams and dreaming in general, you are much more likely to be aware of them in dream-consciousness. A log would help, but it is hard to remember to do it if you aren't thinking about your dreams on a regular basis. Your dreams might also become much more vivid this way, at least that has been the case in my experience.

Is anyone here able to maintain conscious awareness until dreams begin ?, or is it possible to drift in and out of the hypnogogic ?

i started off doing reality checks every hour when my watch would beep..i just looked at my tattoos, because i know right away if i'm dreaming they don't look much like they do in waking reality. also used many other reality check prompts..random stuff. there's a whole forum devoted to lucid dreams and its pretty active.
http://www.dreamviews.com/forum.php
for OBE i started reading this book. http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Astral-Projection-Out---Body/dp/0738704679/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320031141&sr=8-1-fkmr1
had my 1st projection from a lucid dream on day 28

I find it difficult to maintain awareness because I am such a good sleeper, I can switch off and go asleep relatively easy just by letting go of awareness (at this I am a master), but holding focus and relaxing sufficiently is near impossible for me. This means it is a lottery waiting to regain awareness in a dream, a regular mushroom intake seems to help with a consistency of subjective dream awareness. Lucidity is much rarer, like a lottery with 200 balls selecting a combination of 20. There are triggers and I am trying to integrate some other consistencies of my dreams so that I recognise them as things I only see or do while dreaming.

i think the dream log makes you more conscious as you constantly have to think about them and try to recall that state of when you were watching that dream play in your head if that makes sense, same with the reality checks if you constantly do it it will reoccur in your dreams and if you notice something off in the perception off things (dream usually are very symbolic and misleading) that is when you can take control of the dream.

It's quite difficult for some. (lucid dreams) but keep at it and it will at the very least dramatically increase regular dream recall which imo is an amazing thing in itself. I have a lot of trouble becoming lucid often. If I work hard at it I might have one a month but my dream recall is stellar. I often remember 5 or more dreams each night.

over the past year my dream activity has significantly increased and i think it helps to verbally talk about them with other people who also have vivid dreams and try and interpret them. this may not be lucid dreaming but having vivid dreams might help to get to that stage

Best advise I can give is to start a journal of all of your nonphysical experiences (and even strange happenings in every day life). There's tons of good books out there which can get you started.

OBEs seem to be spontaneous. It might be related to how comfortably you sleep though. If you have crooked struts under your bed or a weird mattress, you may find it more probable that you'll become fully conscious internally whilst your spirit is dislodged from your body as someone tells me it does every night.
Weird as fuck though. It's like drinking milk through your tear pores or something.

the only OBE i've had occurred right after i prayed for one... i popped out of my body as a ball of electric consciousness and fell off the side of my bed, feeling tons of love directed at me from something/someone - it was neat
