Incubation temp - worked at high 60's
    #1530421 - 05/08/03 10:18 AM (20 years, 10 months ago)

I was told by someone that his jars fully colonized in 9 days but the temp was less than ideal.....fluctuating between 65-68. Has anyone else experienced this or was it just a fluke? The substrate was whole grain brown rice coated with BRF. Strain GT.

Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

The record is supposed to be around 11 days fully colonized with ideal climate. This did not happen. It will colonize at those temps, it will just take a lil while longer.

Hey, if you actually witnessed it then I can't argue, but it is highly improbable givin the temp. Fluke for sure.

The concentration of spores going into the substrate is also a factor. Colonization can be fairly rapid at less than ideal temps.

A lot of spores went into the substrate......that must have had a lot to do with it.
