God I miss heavy deadlifts. I havent been able to go too heavy because my bicep tendon is still a little touchy. I hope in maybe 4 more months ill be able to go heavy again. Even if its just 1 rep every once in a while.

I love alt grips on d/l.  The pump I get in my forearms is amazing.  I have to move my watch band a notch up most days.  Feels :awe: man

I only use alternate grip... which is a downfall.. I never switched to hook grip... when I attempted like 70% with hook I was like ZOMGWTF and then cried like a little bitch

Why didnt you like it? What happened?

I was skeptical about hook grip at first and I didnt believe in its benefit. But now I am sold on hook grip and I will never go back. The only thing is that I must have chalk. Without chalk I am nothing so much as a sweaty fist slipping from steel.

In fact I am obsessed with hook grip. I hook everything! I hook my steering wheel, my grocery bags, and door handles. Hell, I even hook nothing! Out of nowhere I will hook my thumb in and pretend I am wrapping my hand around a bar. I love the feeling of the hook. So secure. So beautiful.

God. The biomechanics of lifting are beautiful and the movements graceful.

Beautifull...

And with hooks I am sure!!!

dunno, I guess I was just relying so much on alternate grip for that extra bit of strength in holding the bar...?

I just don't have that kinda strength... maybe I should try and incorporate it some more...

Yo I just caught something in this video....

When he is initiating his pull (the deadliftish part) he is holding his breath. He doesn't release his breathe until he receives the bar and begins his overhead squat. Thats almost kind of like implementing the Valsalva maneuver sort of isn't it? Maybe not exactly but kind of...

I need to work on the breath of my clean and jerk. The main part I have trouble on is receiving the bar. Sometimes I get too fatigued and get sloppy.

I couldn't even master the power cleans, let alone a clean & jerk

:oldman:

really did my head in. For such a simple move, how could it be so complicated?!?!?! (powerclean)

That vid is graceful...
I use all diff grips all of the time when lifting.  My favorite is the one where my thumb is on the same side of the bar as my fingers... I can't think of the name... open? maybe?  I can get up to two plates for d/l before I need to use my thumbs.  I can get up to two +25lbs if I use alternate open grip.  I'm gunna get those fat gripz once I can open grip 315.  Open grip is the shiat IMO, for building grip/forearm strength.  Though nothing beats the hook for heavier lifts.
If you don't believe me about the open grip try hammer curls with open grip.  It's a bitch to hold on to the bar.  Also for idk the name of the lift-its for shoulders, raising a dumbell from the waste up to the shoulder?  Try open grip there it'll kill your max.
