Getting frustrated with stale cakes!
    #1529019 - 05/07/03 11:38 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

ok so my friend dunked her two cakes 3 weeks ago... one is going fine and the first flush is through, however the second is still doing nothing. It is a little blue - bruising from dunking not contams and is full colonised but no extra white fuzz growing or pinning.

This is the second time she has had a cake go stale and would REALLY like to save it..... she just doesnt know why one out of every batch does this?

please help her...

cheers

she has 23 degrees Celcius and 95% humidity in a terranium. They were dunked for 24hrs in a sterile plastic tub with natural spring water... i believe she followed all instructions and has done this before but EVERY time she does it one or two cakes stall.... very annoying as you can guess!

Time. Give it time. The more you play with it, worry about it, and look at it the more chances you are goingto do something yo uwill regret. As long as there are no contams...let it be, If your conditions are right...it will eventually fruit.  Some dude I ran into the otehr day almost threw out his first poo trays because of the length of time in the chamber with no pins.  Thank god he did not. next day

My FOAF is having the same problem. She dunked yesterday thinking and hoping that was the problem, All the temp/hum etc... is stable and fine, 77* and 98% humditity. Its been about 2 weeks now. The strain is Koh, 1 Lipa and 1 GC.

the one that is fruiting is great... looks moist and lots of extra white fuzz... got 5 mushrooms off it so far... the stale cake looks a little dry i guess but i was dunked so my friend isnt sure why. Seems wierd that they are both the same strain but only one is fruiting... everything that was done to one was done to the other

you may want to try your hand at spawning the cake....4 or 5 buck on poo and a small container, there are some good teks in the FAQ that will guide you through, sometimes it's a nescesary evil in order to further ourselves in this educational realm....all you have to lose is a cake, a little time, $5 for some shit and you stand to gain a lot more....experience, knowledge and maybe an abundance of mushrooms..... your cake, your call....
