premature birthing?

i'm completely new to this, and for whatever reason, only two of my jars ended up germinating, in one spot only. a month later, one of my jars is almost ready, theres just a little uncolonized space left, about a half inch by an inch and half, and it's slowed down spreading, and i'm getting impatient because i have sort of a deadline to grow these by, and i really wanna birth it now but i'm afraid of having a miscarriage, so to speak. if i did birth it now and brushed off the uncolonized substrate, would it be okay? thanks.

If the is only a little spot make sure the tape is off the holes in your jar and turn the jars upside down.
A few days lator.

It sound like your cakes aren't getting enough air exchange. It should only take two weeks to be colonize. Are you drilling four holes in your lids and putting breathable tape over the holes? The cake will colonize eventually, but I would worry more about your technique and try to figure out why it is taking so long to colonize. Here are some questions to ask yourself -
Are you using coarse or fine verm.? If you are using fine verm. then it will take much longer to colonize. Are you using to much water? Water will slow down the growth of the myc. Is there enough air exchange? Most beginners don't understand how important this is for myc. growth and for pinning.

a) i am using coarse vermiculite b)i used 1/4 cup of water for every jar like the pf tek said c) you lost me here. i have the four holes but i didn't put tape on them because it wasn't mentioned in the tek i used. i'll be sure to try this one next time!
i think the main reason it took so long was that i injected spores into four different sites around the glass, and only one germinated, so it took forever to colonize the entire jar. also the temperature i had them at was about 72.

72F compared to an optimal 86F will slow down colonization.
Once I had a cake that was like 85% colonized and was forced to birth it sooner due to some in vitro mushies that were starting to grow inside. I placed this one in a separate terrarium and got 3 flushes out of him with no contamination.
Try to flip the jars and if it doesn't help, birth it. You won't have problems, in my opinion.
