 21 year old kills himself over bad grades...

 The 21-year-old college student reportedly sent a text message to his friend that he was upset about his grades before apparently jumping to his death.
2:10 p.m. UPDATE: The dead man found at the bottom of the Rindge Dam in Malibu has been identified as Joshua A. Feinberg, 21, of Agoura Hills.
The cause of death is expected to be revealed on Thursday after further examination, said Craig Harvey, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.

A 21-year-old college student whose body was found Tuesday at the bottom of the Rindge Dam in Malibu apparently committed suicide, Sgt. Vivian May of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station told Malibu Patch on Wednesday.
The circumstances surrounding the death were under investigation, May said. She said the student, whose name has not been released, apparently jumped to his death.
"There was a text message to a friend and a note left in his car," May said. "He was upset about his grades."
The recipient of the text, whose name also was not released, went looking for his friend, May said. He got lost, and was later found uninjured on a ledge by the Malibu/Lost Hills search and rescue team, May said.

Maybe he had overbearing parents that severely punished him for bad grades? Maybe bad grades would have pulled his college funding and he foresaw his life being over since he wasn't going to be able to afford college?

exactly.
couldn't take the pressure. there's people out there (myself included) struggling to put themselves through school, or just struggling to live in general, and this mother fucker needs to end his life because he got some bad grades.
I pity his family and friends, not him.

Hypothetically speaking, imagine if he'd waited till he graduated, ended up in the common position of being thousands of dollars in debt and with no entrance into the field his major was for, and realized all those good grades he got were for nothing?
Would it have been a murder/suicide instead? 
Sucks to hear something as trivial as a bad grade would lead him to throw away his life, though.

Maybe his friend threw him off the cliff after he received the texts from him because he knew it would look like a suicide.

I like to think I'm pretty fucking serious about my grades... poor guy. I feel bad for his family... had to of been a combination of things not just grades.

man i fucking love that movie. i don't even get why i like it so much.
sad to hear about the kid, but he's made his choice. i must say though, i really fucking doubt bad grades were the only thing in his life that was causing him to be unhappy. maybe it was the bad grades that sent him into his most recent spiral, but i'm sure he had battled depression for some time before succumbing.

I would think the opposite.
if he'd been depressed for a while, I think he would be more apt to cope with disappointment, sadness, etc.
It seems like the younger people who commit suicide are making a hasty and rash decision. Something (relatively) terrible happens and they can't cope with it, or see a way out, so they kill themselves.

mmaybe he had straight A's since preschool and he broke that streak.
instead of taking the dishonour of his first failure, he did the noble thing and became an hero.

or maybe he was strung out from chronic adderall abuse and was in an amphetamine psychosis? wouldnt be the first time that caused a student to kill themselves

Eh, not sure if I agree. If you're able to cope with bad things happening then your emotional state wouldn't be as affected; I think it's more likely that he was depressed to begin with and getting bad grades was the straw that broke the camel's back.
