If you haven't seen this film I believe most of you would be interested in seeing it. Its by a French director but he made it in english so people could focus on the visuals without being distracted by subtitles. Inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead, Psilocybe mushrooms(the film maker got the idea originally on them), DMT and very experimental camera work.
The film maker wanted to make an entirely first person film about someones death.
It takes place in Tokyo with the character starting off taking DMT and dying moments later after a drug deal goes bad. The remainder of the film is a mixture of his dying visions or dream, which is influenced mainly by the drug DMT he had taken and the book he had been reading, the Tibetan Book of the Dead. He sees visions of his autopsy, childhood, and the aftermath of his death. I watched it while on shrooms and some scenes where obviously really depressing, but I still enjoyed it alot.
Gasper Noe is a great film maker who creates Extreme films like I stand Alone or his commercial success Irreversible. Like the others Enter the Void has very intense scenes of violence, and very unconventional film making techniques. The director even traveled just so he could brew and take DMT and be able to give his cast a real first hand experience of the drugs involved in the film.
Tho at one part a character says that Daturas are mushrooms, but i got over that pretty fast.
A very nice look at how the Tibetan Book of the Dead still to this day inspires the psychedelic experience.

Great film. When some of the more explicit sexual moments happened, it felt in bad taste. But then I reminded myself we're looking through the "eyes" of the main character who now has no inhibitions and has always (implied?) had an "unusual" relationship with his sister (be it attraction or protectiveness). So WHERE he goes and WHAT he watches has it's place.
Between this and Irreversible, Gaspar Noe's cinematography & camera movements (tricks) have blown my mind. Disorienting for sure but goddamn if it's not amazing!

My dorm mate and I watched this movie jesus flipping. The overhead scrolling camera cinemtography made the movie go by incredibly slow-mo...
In comparison, the in "Limitless" the fractiline flow of the city appeared to make time speed up.
oh and thats not an autopsy, thats an abortion

One of the best films I've ever seen. If you've ever been out of body, they do a pretty good job of showing what things look like.
