Has anyone ever tried this?.....

I got a idea from that corncob tek that's becoming popular. It seems that blending a cake in water is a great way to get mycelum (sp?) spread out in any mixture for fast colonization. So say you or your friend's dog or whatever were to case 3 cakes. Would it be a good idea to crumple 2.5 cakes, blend .5 cakes with some water, then use that cakewater to make your casing layer? I did this 2 days ago, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this already. Did I just mess up my whole batch?

No I mean taking the appropriate amount of water for your casing layer (2 cups for some people) and instead of just adding it to the mix and stirring, blend the water with .5 of a cake, then adding and stirring. It might give the casing layer a little jumpstart no??

I think the reason the water works with the corncob method is that it allows the mycellium to attach to the corn better and the corn isnt really the casing anyway, its just a way to produce a massive bulk substrate to then be used in a bulk grow with dung or a high nutrient because the corncob won't support the mycellium very well during fruiting (low nutrient). But I'm new.

your probably going to want to still put another casing layer down on top of that otherwise youll have mycellium growing on your top layer.

Don't you want the mycellium to spread to the casing layer? I thought that is when it's time to start pinning....

the purpose of the top layer in casing is to hold water to the mycellium. If you dont have a top layer that isnt mycellium im allmost possitive your casing will get overlay.
