I see nothing wrong with your post. However I do disagree with its "content".

How many people have you traded with that have a 1 rating?

Ratings suck. (and no i dont have a low rating ) If you feel like i do, then contribute to the nullification.  Generally i rate people with high stars low, and low stars high.  If someone has three stars i rate em 1.
Rating mean nothing because there are people like me, who rate without method.

There will always be anarchists who will try to spoil every political system, including this one.  But to it you have to overcome human nature and most people like to be liked, even those who say they don't care.

In the future we will be designing a new rate system that more accurately reflects the quality of a person.  It is an attempt to fix a few flaws in the current system.

Destroying a system that could work great because of your own selfish wants is not something to be proud of.

if we worked together to make a honest system with thought put into it, then we would all gain something much more then what we get from shroom rating trading.

I usually watch people for quite a while before I rate them a 5. When I do so it is because the total sum of their contributions has been very positive. I read the posts of members very carefully. In doing so it generally doesn't take very long to judge their character. There are times when I make a mistake though and that is why we are able to change our rates.

When I mention it I am letting them know and others know that I think they make good contributions to the Shroomery.

Overgrow has a Karma system where those with higher rates can rate with a lot of clout. In other words their rates count for much more. I don't have to ask how people feel about this because if they think the current system is flawed they would HATE that one.

Another flaw our current system has is that the more rates you have the less each rate counts. For example, if someone rates me now their rate has almost zero effect. They will contribute 1/165 of my 4 mushroom rating. That dilutes their vote to near meaninglessness.

Cheers,

I do want to add one more thing. I am always very interested in my rates. To me they are a valuable tool for determining how well I serve this community. I strive hard to be fair and level headed. I am not a perfect member by a long shot, but I want to be.

This is also why I encourage members to pm with with praise and criticisms alike. I don't want to let anyone down.

Cheers,

This is not a "political system" its a f#cking messaging board!

How can any system accurately reflect a persons "quality" ?(love that choice of word btw.)  Why don't we make minimum ratings, so that people with less quality can't even post? i mean we know they're assholes not to be trusted. The whole concept seems idiotic to me...

The rating system, and mabye some weak policies are the only flaws i've found here.

*mr.mushrooms, i think you'd be amazed at how many people really dont give a shit about what others rate them, although i support people with more posts having more of a say.

yeah, this current system is weak. here is a new one i designed

when someone posts a really good post, you can give them a shroom for that post, and their rating will be the number of shrooms they have recieved. that way its all positive......as well as more competitive.

Maybe people would care more if people like you didn't degrade the system.

the very existence of the "system" is degrading.

What if we all went on a system that had a scale from 1 to 10 where we get +1 to our rating for every 1,000 posts we have. We can also rate each other, but with an 8 maximum rate, so that people will really have respect for the 9s and 10s whos ratings actually show something.

Whaddya think?

A rating based on posts would just encourage people to make more random posts that are really not needed. This exists without being put into effect, people already strive to have a high post count by thier name. Both the posts, and mushrooms can help people out alot if they were used the way they were intended to use, but they arnt. This isnt an advanced form of rating, its a neat little thing someone decided they wanted to incorporate when they coded this bb software. I really do believe that they do provide some help, but when it all comes down to it, I would rather take the respect of name recognition, not little icons and numbers by my name. You gotta love those '5 mushroom' users who have a total of 3 posts.

i've lost one shroom since this thread started, must have made somebody upset

I would say name recognition says more than any amount of posts or mushrooms, wether is good recognition or bad recognition.

Fair eneough  I got you wrong there.

How about not having a rating system at all.  Is there really eneough benefits to a system of this kind?  maybe there should be a poll made.

My opinion is that we scrap them damn shrooms!
