but Peter lengthens it by 2.
so 8+2-2=8.

4.43 but i think i messed something up
the job = 1
one hour of marys work is 1/8
mary and paul can do it in 6 hours SO
6/8 + 6/x =1
common denominator is 8x the cancel out
6x + 48 = 8x
Paul can do it in 24 hours
paul and peter together = 10 hours
10/24 + 10/x = 1
peter can do it in ROUGHLY (this is where i think i missed something) 17 hours
Peter Paul and mary togetethr = 1
x/8 + x/24 + x/17 = 1
Common denominator is 408 and then cancel out
51x +17x +24x = 408
92x = 408
Its Takes Peter Paul and Mary roughly 4.43 hours to complete the task
Its probably wrong

Mary works at a rate of 1/8 of the job per hour.
Paul works ata rate of 1/24 of the job per hour.
Peter works at a rate of 7/120 of the job per hour.
Using a common denominator of 240 and a little more math, it would take them 4.44 hours.
