Problem with spraybottles and isopropylalcohol

HI all,
I have a quite strange problem with my spraybottles i use for cleaning the area in my glovebox and more. I use to bye the ordinary plasic spraybottles found in the gardening section for spraying on flowers.
But when i have loaded them with my isopropylalcohol and sprayed just a little while they break down and won't work anymore. I have tried many different now. Can it be that my ispropylalkohol is from work (ie electronic printed circutboard cleaning, 99,99%) ??
Can plasic sprayers not handle 99.99% isoprpyl alcohole or have i just got bad ones?
They become damaged for good, i can't even spray water with them anymore.
How many % do i need to get the bacterial killing effect?
I'm kind of new to mushroom cultivation so i dont know this stuff so well.
Best regards
Mateo

If you are using it to settle contaminates/particles in your glove box you can get away with using plain water, or a 10% water/bleach solution.
I use a plastic spray bottle(purchased from a garden store) for my 70% ISO alc and it works fine, has worked fine for the last year+. As far as working inside a glove box goes I use a 10% bleach water solution, the 70% ISO is for work done in front of my flow hood, wiping down grain to grain jars, etc etc.
I would think it has something to do perhaps with the internal components of your sprayer that cannot handle the ISO alc and melts/deforms. I would suggest trying a different brand of sprayer, or simply using water or bleach for settling contaminates in your glove box.
Also here is some information from RR in regards to why 70% iso alc is better to use then 99%:
Quote:
70% is preferred, but it has nothing to do with rate of evaporation.
Cells admit water through their cell walls via osmosis. Cell walls are particularly good at preventing the entry of toxins, so by mixing water with the alcohol, it 'tricks' the cell wall into admitting the mixture, which then kills the cell as the alcohol evaporates back out.
I'm sure one of our resident chemists can put it in more scientific terms, but that's the jest of it. RR

OK, thanx.
I'll try dilute to 70%. Maybee i try bleach solotion, i use iso for its bacteria killing properties and i spray the air inside the glovebox.
What is best isopropanol or bleach solotion?
I would love to get a laminar flow hood but they are so expensive. Maybee i can build one myself if i can find a snailfan and a HEPA-filter with a decent pricetag.
I read that they are superior with all sorts of mycological work.

no. a hepa filter will never be a flow hood. you should get a filter to keep the air clean in your room though. a glove box works just fine for anything you need to do.
