Pacific Exotica Spora Hawaiian in a 64 Quart, Clear Monotub. * 2
    #15251946 - 10/20/11 12:44 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

These genetics are from a multi-spore syringe ---> grain ---> 50/50 coir/horse manure with the addition of 30% vermiculite and, 3% gypsum.
The coir/manure/vermiculite/gypsum substrate was hydrated to about 70% moisture capacity then pasteurized in large spawn bags.
Method of pasteurization; water as the heat trasnfer medium, with a meat thermometer stuffed into the center of the materials to gauge temperature.
A SEPARATE meat thermometer was used to gauge the water in the pot, as to not let it exceed 165F through out the entire duration of the pasteurization process.
Once the thermometer gauging the temp. of the substrate materials reads 140F, it will be held there for an hour.

Spawn and substrate were all colonized at between 66-69F.
Substrate was fruited at the same temperature range.
Method of colonization to the substrate was tightly stuffed poly-fil in all 6 holes of the fruiting chamber.
For fruiting, the poly-fil is removed from one of the holes on the side.

First pins arrived 2 days after the substrate was introduced into fruiting conditions.
Substrate was misted heavily, once, on the second day of being introduced into fruiting.
Once pins arrive, misting was cut back 75% and the substrate was fanned twice daily.

Good job OP!
SKrink:
This is from THE website:

Quote:

Ready for some drama and controversy . This one has an interesting story behind it. A company out of Hawaii called Pacific Exotic Spora (PES) advertise this strain as a cubensis/azurescens hybrid. They even went so far as to claim it came from the mushroom master Paul Stamets himself. Well people, there has been a lot of azure/cub hybrid scams in the past, and to this day the experts such as P. Stamets have not published any information about being able to hybridize a p. azurescen with a p. cubensis. They are completly different species and this task would certainly be extremely difficult. I'm sure if anyone can do it, P. Stamets can, and hopefully one day he will. But until something is published, do not buy into it. This is nothing more then a very potent cubensis.

About a year ago when they started advertiseing this hybrid, a bunch of us pitched in to get a print of this (yes, that is how high there prices are  and Xman grew it out and once again, a cub/azure hybrid was nothing more then a cubensis. -Clyde- has grown out all the cubs from PES, and found this the only one worth keeping.
PES (Pacific Exotic Spora)has been around for a while, and sells quite a few strains of cubs and panaeolus at a very very high price. We normally will not carry other strains that is unique to one company. But, since PES charges such a rediculous price for a print of this strain, we decided to go ahead and carry it and share with everyone because most ppl in Amsterdam will enjoy the extreme potency.

Thanks for the info stonesun :super: That's a good story background! Damn although I know its mostly just marketing, I love the writeups to each cube variety.

Methinks its time to take the PES prints I got to agar and hopefully get an impressive a result as OP

Thanks.  Atta' boys are nice.

Skrink, I learned what the PES stood for from reading the descriptions of the specie over at the Ralphster's and Sporeworks' website.  I'v found that a good way to get information about specific mushroom genetics is to search through and read the descriptions offered by many of our site's trusted vendors.
