incubation temperature swings

Hey people.
I am incubating my pf cakes now, but it's gone very cold, temp in my room usually about 60f, and mycelium growth is very very slow. as I spend most of time somewhere else, not home, I don't want to keep heating system on all the time. I have a heating mat, but when it's hot, it's about 90f, too hot for cubes. So i am thinking about putting jars in box, and put a heating mat under it, and put a timer on so it will heat it for 15 mins, then 30 break, and 15 minutes again and so on. But this ads temperature swings, especially at the bottom of box. Is temperature changing all the time can do some harm for my cakes?
Thanks people

60F is fine. It's just slower. Do not use heating mats.

Just get a space heater and keep the temperatures around 70-75. Don't place the jars in a box and definety do not use a heating pad, not only is it dangerous practice (fire hazard) but could also end up killing your mycelium. Remember mycelium create their own heat, think of a steaming compost pile in winter time, sort of the same thing.

I did the heating mat & timer before. Works fine, just start with very little time and slowy increase it, e.g. 15min on 2 hours off.
You need to put a buffer between the mat and jars, like a folded over blanket, this stops direct heat and also stores up heat. Also put something on top.

thermal death of P. cubensis mycelium is somewhere around 106F, but i like to keep my incubation temps in the low 80's. keep in mind(like said before) that the actual temps inside the substrate will be a little higher than the air temp around the jars/bags.

Never thought about fire hazard. and my box is made of cardboard. yep, that's very good point. better slower (later) than never.
Thank you guys
