"Fuzz" on stem at bottom of stipe?
    #2119940 - 11/18/03 01:27 PM (20 years, 4 months ago)

Hi all:

A new one for me, some of these growing shrooms have a hairlike "fuzz" growing around the stem at the base.Any ideas what's going on? (It's just hairlike fuzz growing straight out)

Gracias, friends

I'll step up air exchange, Ralphster.

I have had great success with this first try. Well, I consider it great success. I'm going to try bulk next, working on it now.

RH is high so you have a little myc growing on the shroom. No biggy.

These are lots of fuzzy white hairs sticking straight out, when you look at base it gives the illusion of a fuzzy pic until you focus on it closely then you see the many "hairs", interesting...

It's just raised myc. I've seen that many times while birthing jars. It looks like snail tenticles.

Wait, is there a chance that shrooms could grow off the mycelium of those shrooms? Crazy!

Das es good!  IME fuzzy stipes = good strong genetics, at least as far as forming fruit bodies is concerned.

That is some serious fuzz bra... lol looks good!

The fuzz is from lack of Fresh Air Exchange(FAE). Ditch the bubbler,
the air pump, and construct a proper Shot Gun Fruiting chamber with
1/4" holes on all six sides and 4-5 inches of moist perlite. It will
out perform your current setup guaranteed.

Also note the thread you have posted in is 7 years old;-)

Lack of FAE. The myc thinks the air is a subsrate because it cannot sense the oxygen in it.
