Very likely that the Occupy movement will not have any
effect on anything at all, except exorbitant media coverage.

Few, if any, have made any demands or suggestions about the
changes they want to see, and there is not even a leadership
among the movements to give them a voice. This will be their
greatest downfall because without leadership, without a voice
to speak their concerns and turn their thousands and thousands
of whimpers into a single voice, they all drown each other out.

Also, if you look through history, peaceful protests have
accomplished very little. Its the violent ones that lead to
change.

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

It's only because they are willing to run it.  The average joe and jane abdicate their responsibility  by voting for people they know nothing about and have been proven liars and salesmen.
