I just read your other posts and no mods explicitly said that it was cobweb that you are seeing. It's very hard to tell without pictures, but there is a good chance it may be. Suntzu gave you some excellent information on how to test to see if is actually coming from the vendors syringe. Other than that, there are a MILLION places the cobweb contam could have come from. NOBODY can give you specific information on how to prevent this particular contam, so chill! Just try harder to be more sterile next time, use the negative controls that Suntzu mentioned to make sure its not the syringe, and maybe invest in a pressure cooker. Steaming in a pot of water does not always reach a high enough temperature to kill all contams; a pressure cooker will.

All of the help was great.  I have procured a PC (unfortunately a very small one but a PC nonetheless).  I have read about people preparing there jars and letting them sit for a while before inoculating to make sure there are no contams.  Is this a legitimate technique?  How long does it take to be sure that there are no contams in the jar?  Where do I store the jars?  This seems to make a lot of sense to me, and since I have some time before my replacement gets here I might as well go for it.  Thanks again for everyones help.  :smirk:

i guess you didnt read the post i gave you in a different thread, if you look back and follow those directions for prep and steam sterilization, you WONT have probs with contams.  just USE YOUR HEAD, and assume that any air that any utensil touches is contaminated, then you will be a little more careful.  use common sense man for next time, and if you are goin to use a pc, then hork up a lugie in one jar and youll see how well the pc works- :smile:
