Every time that you introduce something into your substrate you increase the likelyhood of contams. If you are sure of the sterility of your equipment and methods, then give it a shot. If not, just wait it out. If you have growth then you will get colonization but it will just take a bit longer

the risk is the same as it was the first time.
i'd do it because if they take too long, they will dry out and the longer they take, the greater the risk of contams.

I redid a couple of jars after a month with no growth. I just took a little mycleium from some colonized cakes and added to the cakes that weren't growing. I did this 9 days ago and now I have massive growth in both jars with no contamination.

What you might try when reinnoculating, is working on you oven rack, pullled out, with the oven on a low setting. This creates an upward draft, and the airborne contams are not as much of an issue. Hippie is right, if you have to wait really long for them to grow anyway, the chance of contams is pretty high as well. It's a shot.

Stupid me. I meant, it's worth a shot, not it is a shot. What was I thinking?
