Psilocybe semilanceata help please.

I have some Psilocybe semilanceata cultures i wont to play about with, and was just wondering what others have had success with medium wise. I see in tmc that is seems to do ok in pasteurised wheat straw, and I've also read that in Germany there was success using flasks with sterilised compost in. But what I'm wondering is if anyones tryed Perrenial rye grass seed?Or anything else for that matter.
Any help full advice or tips would be nice, even just some other ideas.
Thanks in advance :-)

Yes, i have already :-) He's given me some good advice on temps.I forgot to ask him about substrates though but this is a more general question, going out to anyone thats tryed them, even a few "i did this and it failed" anwsers would be good.
Today i started 2 small rubbermaids with chopped wheat straw and a little composted straw and horse poo. These i plan to incubated until fully colonised(with luck)then case with wet compost and fine grass seed, allow the seed to germinate for a few weeks the trim and cold shock the rubbermaids.
I'm also going to try perennial grass seed, but the sacks at work so that'll be in the week.
But these are just ideas to play with, in the hope of finding a indoor fruiting tec.

Recently MJ posted a pic of a flask of semi myc forming sclerotia.I am awaiting futher info on the sclerotia forming traits of semillanceata. My thinking is an older culture which has formed sufficient sclerotial mass will fruit more likely than the "shoot, scoot and fruit" like cubes.I have had success feeding the shrooms to a donkey with its grain but the patches are fading after 3yrs in spite of my feeding with poowater. These are kind of a last frontier of active culture keep us updated on your progress, particularly should you notice the formation of sclerotia in the myc.I have suspected sclerotia in this species and have made some deductive shots at what my observation of this species over 20+yrs have led me to believe If you discover answers for some of these questions I would love to hear what you've discovered. are the sclerotia less than 2cm? are they formed on subsurface hyphal knots ? Are the sclerotia of semi's formed on older mature mycelia? These are my expectations of semi sclerotia w/o having any experience seeing them, how close were my deductions?
GOOD LUCK! WR

Yes I,ve seen that flask :-) from germany. But these are english liberty caps, and if sclerotia is produced by libs from hotter, dryer countrys, then this is unlikly to be a producer of it, as one thing we'er not short of over here is rain :-) But for sure i'll keep you posted, as your donkey tec is still an option i may use for outdoors I shall also do a bit of digging this autum, to look for sclerotia in spots that ive been picking at for 10 years.
Cheers for the interest.

Damn ! I wish I'd cloned those few semilanceatas I found a short while back but didn't have any agar at the time.. I think I'm gonna head up to the Moors to see if I can find any more lolzz !
Are you planning on growing indoors or making a outdoor bed Paid ?
Either way I look forward to your progress.

I'm planning for both :-) indoor and outdoor. Depending on how the mycelium runs through what im using. Get back out there and get cloning lol, as im not 100% that this is an english lib, i'm told it is but untill i talk to the origanal cloner i will have doubts lol.(just the way i am)But untill i find and clone myown from my fav patches, its somthing to work with :-) I too regret not cloning the last ones i found, but it was about the same time i found the shroomery lol. So get out there :-P after the next rains

I know its a little early for an update, but the jars of chopped straw and vermiculite are showing signs of growth already, were as the containers of compost/straw are not. This may point towards the fact that liberty caps preffer more air around them, i'm not sure yet, but its looking good so far.

Paid, the original finder of the clone you're working with was Erbaliza. He tried a liquid method: Click Me
Erbaliza has disappeared recently, and his growlog ended abruptly. I think I mentioned in a PM the exact location of the find.
I wonder whether just digging up some turf from the nearest field and inoculating with semi spawn (ala logs & dowels) will be just as effective as a controlled experiment? Thats what I'll be doing.
Good luck!

Ah i c :-) if its from Erbaliza then its kosha :-) but yo know how it is when i got it from some;)ne that got it from someone lol, hard to be certain. Thanks for clearing that, i should have asked hu lol. But yeah the soil thing is a possiblity, that park you mentioned it came from is ph7+ i think, i have a friend that works there so i'll find out. What i plan for outdoors is to try 2 methods this year. First i plan to peel back some turf, add a thinish layer of composted sheep shit, spawn it and returf. second attempt will be mix some spawn into sieved compost and composted sheep shit, and sweep into turfed areas, then water in well. My main try outs will be indoors though :-) as i wont an off season fresh lib source btw one of the reasons i was 1% doudtful this is in fact a lib, was its speed on agar. Its pretty fucking fast :-) But as its from Erbaliza who was active when i first came here, and made many posts that interessted me greatly and helped get me hooked on this hobbie :-) i'm now a happy camper :-) Hope he returns some time :-) and is well and safe. Cheers Jackal ? *

Its interesting that they are liking just the chopped straw, as you know that they will not fruit directly from dung.
I wonder about soaking the straw in dung water first...?

Strange things were happening in my lib jars while a was honeymooning ;-) Now these do not look like any libs ive ever seen. But this could be due to them being cultivated.Either that or there actually a contam or mislabled plate any thought?s lol?
This fruit was the first to pop, and was a loner sticking out above the rest, as it was hard to take a picture, i jumped the gun and picked it for a pic. No sign of any blueing yet, even though i bruised it 5 mins ago. Going to leave the rest of the 50+ pins to mature more, for a more positive id but till then any thoughts ?

Possibly, if so then the plates of libs i have are not what they seem. As the pins are growing mainly from the exact areas were the agar pieces were sited :-( So i would guess its not a contam on my part, but one from the early stages of propergation :-( /me goes back to the drawing board, ho hum. one day i'll have a lib culture to play with(awaiting autum :-) )

We'll know soon enougth if its some sort of Coprinus as i'll leave the next flush to mature fully, though the vertical lines running down the cap are a bit of a give away :-( imo
