my casing crumbled when taken out.....
    #1520933 - 05/05/03 01:57 AM (14 years, 28 days ago)

so i went to dump the casing out of its container because i was under the impression that the mycelium underneath the casing layer would have knit together..boy was i wrong....out came a huge mess of substrate, cococoir, and verm....so i put together a makeshift moist buffer at the bottom made of a combition of the wet verm, small substrate, and cococoir...then i assembled the remainig substrate to try and get it back..and filled in the gaps with wet verm, then i gave it a good misting and it sorta looked peiced back together

do you think this will flush? it should be 2nd flush

it will delay for a lil bit while the myc rebuilds and forms a network again...

To my understanding, sometimes the connections build between the chunks of mycellium are rather weak. I've seen a casing in the past where the chunks of colonized substrate absolutely refused to knit together at all. Saw no vegetative growth even after incubation, but the SOB fruited eventually. Due to the flush size, which was rather small, I think it was just random chunks of substrate forming pins all on their own, no cooperation. I guess that if they don't need it, the chunks of substrate might not form terribly strong connections. I wouldn't worry about it as long as the flushes are good.
