A question about jars
    #15206309 - 10/10/11 04:50 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone tried using these jars for cakes. Do you reckon they would be any good?

Cheers for replying. Also, what if I used tall jars instead?

I could fit more jars in the pressure cooker and growing box. Or should I stick to the other ones?

If you use the tall jars you can run into problems with the bottoms having trouble colonizing. Not everyone has problems with them but I'd stick to the short jars if possible.

Thanks for quick replies.  :thanx:

Speck: I'd rather go with the most basic technique since this is my first grow. Thanks anyway.

Yeah I did the PF first too 1 grow and now I'ma do a mono. the reason behind it is because I want larger and more mushroooms.

PF cakes can make a good spawn. If at any time you want to move on to something larger to can crumble unpinned cakes and add them to a bulk substrate. Some people actually prefer cakes to grain spawn simply because they have more contamination problems after switching to grains. My point being doing PF cakes doesn't have to mean a low yield.
