green/blue hued mushroom PNW ID
    #15204735 - 10/10/11 10:46 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Hi whilst scouting new locations I came across this guy growing off of hardwood chips/mulch on a hillside under blackberry brambles. They were growing in big clumps. I noticed one other mushroom with the green/blue hue. The stems are very flexible, I'm able to wrap it around my finger without it breaking. I'm currently printing right now. Any ideas? thanks.

Not really sure about that one, I'm curious about the print color.

It doesn't look right...I thought psathyrella at first, but that doesn't match at all either - stem is too flexible, cap looks wrong, wrong gill color...I'm afraid it's something a a tad more obscure genus.

Your probably right about it being a obscure genus but the olive colored gills and slender red bruising stem fits Hypholoma. Looks similar to some old Hypholoma udum i have found but i know its not udum. A spore print would help.

I'm gonna say Hypholoma as well, based on cap and gill color, along with a hygrophanous cap. Not saying that is right, because I would trust Koraks and vjp much more than my opinion. Spore print would help tons.

Having lived through an existence close to nature, one accepts the small and simple things as most important in life. Sun, wind, rain and snow. The sounds birds make, smells of fresh wild flowers. Love of all kinds, from friends and family, thy self and our neighbors. Beautiful sunrises to the darkest clouds dancing above in the sky. To forgive, learn, share and express. This is the only thing a man such as myself can ask for. What comes as the result is nothing short of the core of human existence, to truly live free in body and mind.

I think hypholoma is a far better guess than psathyrella in any case.

It's not going to be active no matter what it is... If that was the OP actually question :-)

Hypholoma sp. ... is what I think too...
Hypholoma dispersum or olivaceotinctum??

That was my thought as well, a little whimpy hypholoma.

My first thought was H. udum. Why do you think that it isn't?

The habitat - they are usually growing in boggy areas with lots of peat and sphagnum moss. Found them on the side of a river once, but they were still growing with moss.

I find them in moss too, but I've also read that they like to grow along "rabbit trails".

I did see rabbits while I was looking also two deer that followed within 15 ft of me.. kinda scarey but cool at the same time. The cap didn't really want to print but the little that I did see showed up white on foil.
