check out craigslist, or your goodwill. It is a good investment if you would like to do this right. You will save your self time, and materials by doing it right the first time.

I just bought a great big PC on Amazon for like $90. It's not exactly cheap, but still a good deal and IMO worth it in the long run.

For $65 + tax I got a 16 qt. Presto Canner from Walmart.com that holds 7 quart jars upright. It's the best deal I could find ANYWHERE, excluding garage sale hunting. I had 0 luck on Craig's list (you might have better luck in your area) and ebay auctions generally ran to prices higher than retailers.

To the OP, if you're gonna use anything other than BRF, I'd highly recommend pressure cooking to sterilize above anything else. Do you really want to put a ton of hard work into this project, just to good destroyed and heartbroken by a rogue bacteria you failed to destroy?

Grains need to be PC'd. If you dont the bacteria will set in. I've heard of steam sterilizing for crazy amounts of time...
but does it make more sense to spend 30 minutes grinding your grain into power and making a cake?

FYI: I stole all my pix off google! F+ PORN! Here is a shit-ton of porn by yours truly!
I have FINALLY written up a couple teks as to how SHP has done things in the past. DISCLAIMER: This is not for the newbie to mycology, and not going to work for everyone! This is simply what works for one person when other teks and methods have failed miserably!

IME i would not waste my time (or spores) on WBS that is not pc'd. Its just to much of a crap shoot. Contams on WBS are tough little sumbitches. Go PF tek until you can afford one.
