Found in Maine fertilized lawn growing in high grass.

Could be. What color is the spore print? Hard to make a guess from those photos alone.

I'm taking a spore print right now of the most intact cap, the gills are soot black on a few, but have a rusty brown tinge.

I don't like the sound of that. Be wary of the rusty gilled ones. I think you may have a mixed collection. Print them all and keep the stems by the caps. You may have a Panaeolus in there.

Those are Panaeolus, probably P. cinctulus
