No specific need for dung, so fine with your jars. I am guessing you were reading sporeworks description

Quote:

Habitat: Bovine, Equine Dung and Enriched Soils

I think this is said on every one of their cube strains, including your B+

on earthstongue i quote "FOR EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE RESULTS THE USE OF DUNG IS REQUIRED." makes me think its almost a must to use dung

so that's the general consensus,i'm not going to worry about it then, i have a tendency to over complicate things as it is

Manure is a bad ass bulk substrate, but by no means necessary to grow P. Cubensis. If you want your spore syringes to go farther then look into making a liquid culture, or using agar.

i was thinking of using 5cc of a syringe then sucking up some distilled water to make sure i have enough for 10jars and maybe a little extra, they seem to have a lot of spores the b+ is a cloud of 4/5cc but the Malabar is only 1/5cc after they settle , next month i'll buy agar starter kit and isolate some strains

Make up a couple/few widemouth pint grain jars...  Make a GLC of the strongest grower...  that can be expanded into a jar of PC sterilized water or a prep'd LC to expand it out.  Just be sure to have a proper lid for the GLC/LC...  This will allow you to inoculate many dozens of jars while only using a fraction of your MS syringe

so your saying do a grain liquid culture of what ever jar fully colonizes first as in transferring some mycelium from a pf jar? and after the GLC colonizes transfer some of the LC to a jar with just water and that will store without anything to grow on? and i can suck up that LC with a syringe to inoculate more pf jars or more GLC. plz correct me if any of this is wrong because i'm still trying to wrap my head around the general idea

MS syringe to grain jars

Extract myc-water from best grain jar

Empty myc-water syringe into GLC (sterilized water) or LC (ELME) container

GLC container can be used right away

LC container should be left to expand

Inoculate cakes with GLC/LC

After extracting myc-water from best grain jar, spawn all healthy jars to more jars (G2G) or to a bulk substrate

picked up some light corn syrup and have wild bird seed laying around. on a side note 6lbs of BRF and 5gallons(20 quarts) of dry verm came in the mail today along with a full spectrum florescent light and a alcohol lamp. still waiting on my 24 Kerr 1/2 pints, lids, lamp, timer, and 4cubeic ft of perlite to start the project. also picked up some syringes(12cc and 20cc) and needles(16g and 18g) from a farm supply store, got a real good deal 30-40cent per syringe and extra needles were about the same price so i stocked up.
