1. Is Hydrogen Peroxide the same as Peroxide?
2. Can Hydrogen Peroxide be used to steralise Perlite during its soak?
3. I have 40% volume Hydrogen, how much water should i use to dilute it to?

2: not a good idea. Put the verm on a plate in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 F
3. please explain "40% volume Hydrogen"...Hydrogen Peroxide is typically about 1/10 this concentrated. ....this sounds explosive, but I will let the chemists respond.
I do not see anything useful here. You might want to suggest what you are trying to do, and someone can suggest a method.
Good luck,
JD

You don't put peroxide on perlite. If it's dirty, simply boil in water for half an hour and then use. RR

40% hydrogen peroxide is a fucking strong oxidizer. As you might know, it will turn your skin white if it gets on your hands, and it will do so very quickly. Wear safety glasses! You'll be surprised how drops find them way onto your face when you pour that stuff, and it would do a lot of damage in your eye.
I suggest you water it down to below 10% by adding 3x the amount of water to maybe 500-1000mls. 40% is dangerous to work with and you dont need it to be that concentrated. It will also decompose quicker at that concentration.(h202 does decompose quite quickly, sadly... dont buy it in bulk. I had a 1L 35% that decomposed very quickly within a year and a half to some shitty, weak concentration.)
Hydrogen peroxide is not explosive. Organic peroxides are. Do not be tempted to pour your peroxide into any kind of organic solvent (ether,MEK,acetone) as this will slowly form unstable and rather nasty peroxide compounds, which are sensitive to heat and shock. I have worked with them, but I never made them often as they were simply too risky considering the good alternatives available.
