Blueing On Cake (Golden teachers) (pics)
    #15192004 - 10/07/11 02:38 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

So I saw the blue on this cake and used the q-tip to see if the color would rub off, but I was informed that that info is wrong and you can't actually tell that way.
So comments please!

Looks to me like your cakes are too dry. I have had the same issue. I would mist more and make sure your dunking for 24 hours and that the cake is submerged. IME the cake will not turn white again, it will stay bruised but on my cakes the mycelium colonized over the blue when rehydrated.

Thanks man! This is my first grow and I have been misting 2-4 times a day. I've been pulling some hog legs off my other cakes! I've noticed you have had success as well!!

Thanks for the info!

Your most welcome man, I don't know if this will help you but I personally don't mist on a schedule. Only as they need it, when they appear to be drying I give them a good misting until they look wet. Goodluck!

You could put a thick layer of verm on the top of your cake or take a small ashtray or bowl-like object and fill it with verm and place you cake on top of that. Keeping the verm wet will help hydrate your cakes as the cake draws moisture from the verm.
