cauliflower smells nice really, its a fresh one. Have not cooked it yet, heard it takes a while. Lobsters are growing in the same place I am finding chanterelles... pine forest, with good forest litter. The folks before my post have some amazing photos... great shots... have been eating a russula or two also... for us, the eatables are just really starting... hope for a long season... la nina weather pattern is forecast... might be wet season... hope freeze hold off till december!

I'm glad I found this thread, I'm a young enthusiast of the edible wild mushroom species and I love the hunt.

Today I went out to the local park and ended up in someones tree farm.

I hauled in a bunch of suillus, about 3 different species and some boletes. Here are the pics.

The tree farm where I found most of my jacks

Going through them with the old man.

The smaller, fresher ones we boiled in water/vinegar mix to marinate in jars. There is a couple of boletes and honeys in there as well.

Here is a honey pic.

I also enjoyed viewing this thread. Great finds everyone!

I agree, especially based on the last picture.

Having lived through an existence close to nature, one accepts the small and simple things as most important in life. Sun, wind, rain and snow. The sounds birds make, smells of fresh wild flowers. Love of all kinds, from friends and family, thy self and our neighbors. Beautiful sunrises to the darkest clouds dancing above in the sky. To forgive, learn, share and express. This is the only thing a man such as myself can ask for. What comes as the result is nothing short of the core of human existence, to truly live free in body and mind.

Hey guys I've been on the west coast of the Olympic peninsula and have no internet. I'm sitting in a library uploading a bunch of stuff. The bus is coming soon so I only have time to post my recent videos. Photos will be coming, however.

I'm still figuring out how to upload a video to stream and get proper formatting, but here's what I have so far:

Mushroom Joe finds a Lobster Mushroom

Mushroom Joe discusses Chanterelle Mushrooms

Hope the files aren't too big for everyone. If you have any suggestions on good, free video compression software, then by all means, please speak up!

Great finds everyone!  I finally made it out in the woods again today.  Found some new chanterelle patches near my usual spots. Made out with about 2 pounds and my buddy had the same. We didn't even make it to the mother lode zone due to his kid being fussy. (Why I don't like hunting with other people!) Hopefully will get back soon and harvest the rest.

Some chants

Corals are just starting to pop

Same chicken from 2 weeks ago. Should have harvested then but I did find a couple young tender ones.

Cauliflower!! Not the large one I've been trying to rediscover but a great surprise nonetheless

Bounty in the kreel. This pic was taken under our plant light, hence the terrible orange glow.

Keep it up PNWers!!  Mmmm, my fingers smell of chanterelle!! Shit, I'm out of upload space. Time to weed out the old crappy pics.

Good chantrelle vid Mushroom Joe.  For whatever reason the lobster vid won't load on this thread, but just quote and then copy and past url into browser for anyone interested.

Had only a couple hours to hunt a new area I selected from google maps. Jackpot! Picked about a half of a 5 gallon bucket of Chanterelles. Saw some chicken of the woods and oysters but they were way past their prime. Will definately go back this weekend.

Only have a crappy cell phone pic of a flush.

Cauliflower mushroom, Lobsters and white and golden chanterelles

Ended up in a good spot yesterday, picked a pound and a half of chanterelles... they are finally coming up. Good year for lobsters.

Nice!

Unfortunately these are the only two pictures from my coastal adventure this week. I found my first chanterelle opened my camera case, and my camera screen was cracked ) :  so i was trying to take photos of all the cool mushrooms i found with out seeing what i was shooting and all the while unable to turn macro off or on, not to mention even know which it was on.. Needless to say they all turned out blurry.
