so i used the Low-Dough Self Sealing Inoculation Lids tek and after i pc my jars...the band aid on the jars stuck to the aluminum foil and on some of the jars it sucked the tyvek filter and bandaid into the jar enough to expose a gap that will let contams in. can someone point me in the right direction to make lids...i used silicone injection points that turned out fukin awesome...just need a good way for air exchange.
thanks

That^. People also use synthetic filter discs that are more expensive but last ages. I switched to using easyfelt a couple months ago with silicone ports and have not lost a jar yet (at around 50 jars at this point).

Micropore tape is not an adequate filter material. It is sometimes used on pf jars but the dry verm layer acts as the filter material on those. I would never recommend using it on any sort of grains as a filter in and of itself.

Agreed I used it on my agar jars and my experimental plastic grain jars, doesn't work at all. I have used Tyvek as a filter patch on my jar lids...Never have I had it suck into the jars. Yes it forms to the hole but if you put enough silicone around edges and make the tyvek piece big enough that shouldn't happen.

i fasten the tyvek to the outside of the lid and not the inside as pictured in that tek. you can use kitchen & bath 100% silicone rather than the automotive silicone which costs more than double. they are both rtv silicone and are rated for 500f. these dual port lids are great!!
